Volunteering with Court Meadow Group RDA
We rely entirely on the dedication and generosity of our wonderful volunteers. Without your help, our riders simply couldn’t enjoy the life-changing experience of therapeutic horse riding.
Our riding sessions take place every Thursday morning during term time, from 9:45am to just after 12 noon, at Tremaines Riding Stables — conveniently located only about 10 minutes from Haywards Heath, Lindfield, Scaynes Hill, Horsted Keynes, and other surrounding villages. Each pony needs a leader and two side helpers, so every extra pair of hands makes a huge difference.
Whether you’re an experienced horse handler or completely new to ponies, there’s a role for you:
-
Horse Helpers – If you have experience with horses or would like to learn, you can assist with preparing the ponies for their lessons — grooming, tacking up, and ensuring they’re ready for our riders.
-
Side Walkers – No experience is needed! Side walkers accompany riders during lessons, offering support, reassurance, and ensuring safety throughout. It’s a wonderful way to connect with our riders and see their confidence grow.
Each riding session lasts about 30 minutes with a total of 4 sessions per day.
We provide comprehensive training for all our volunteers.
All volunteers are required to undergo a DBS check.
If you’re interested in getting involved, we’d love to hear from you! The more volunteers we have, the more children we can support — and the more smiles we can create every Thursday morning.
