Registered Charity No. 1073675
Founded in 1976, Court Meadow RDA have worked tirelessly, providing 3 sessions of riding weekly throughout the school term for up to 60 local children.
In September 2004 the Group had the pleasure of welcoming HRH The Princess Royal at a ceremony to mark the granting of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service. The Group was honoured to be selected as one of only 100 recipients nationally in 2004.
"This year everyone in class one has been lucky enough to enjoy riding. It is an activity that all the children enjoy and has proven to be beneficial for them year after year. Not only does it benefit them physically but it also gives them an opportunity to integrate with members of the local community. Furthermore the children profit from being able to succeed in a field that their mainstream peers can appreciate. So as ever our warmest thank you goes to the members of the RDA which make this fantastic activity possible."

"Dear Ditchling RDA,
This year Riding has enabled the pupils of Class 3 to develop social skills, work with others and begin to have an awareness of and integrate with their peers. It is important for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders to develop skills of co-operation and participation.
Thank you for supporting Cameron, Sam, Christian and Daniel who all have difficulty with some aspects of communication, especially speaking, listening and understanding verbal commands. Although they all have a range of strengths that can be built upon and all possess good spatial skills and balance.
Some of the key skills they have learnt through riding have been problem solving, maintaining attention and concentration as well as sitting quietly when appropriate."
"Dear Hill House Farm Riding Ladies,
Thank you very much for working with the children from Classes 2, 5 and 1 for so many years.
They have had a wonderful time. They have enjoyed a different and rewarding experience in beautiful surroundings. They have also benefitted from the excellent exercise and balancing whilst being on a horse. Minstral has been a lovely, gentle horse and we wish him well in his retirement. We will miss you all. Thank you again."
Maddie, James, Eleanor and Emily have all really enjoyed their year of riding. We are ecstatic with Emily's achievements and progress on a competitive level and look forward to her success in the coming competition. Maddie was made up with her contribution and rosettes. James has continued to show confidence with the horses, which is fantastic. They have all made progress in being able to name the parts of a horse, which has complimented the work done in school. All children enjoy grooming the pony and were very enthusiastic about camp week.
Two members of Class 5 have attended fornightly RDA riding sessions and one has also been able to have an occasional 'extra' ride at shcool. Both students have Profound Learnng Difficulties but it is clear that they enjoy these sessions and benefit from the sensory experience that it affords them. They will continue to attend during the next academic year.
The assistance and support given by the RDA helpers is much appreciated.

Jack has really enjoyed his Thursday rides at Hill House Farm. He has made good progress with his balance and co-ordination. He tolerates waiting for his turn very well, most of the time!
